IMAGINE, if you can, wearing your best friend’s clothes a year after they’d died, in celebration of all that they mean to you. Mcqueen shows now have that unsettling dichotomy of celebration and still-shocking disbelief. But then, McQueen shows always have been shocking.
Somehow Sarah Burton - who worked with Lee for 16 years before his tragic death in February last year - bridges it brilliantly to confound the grief and make McQueen a reinvigoration of the talent and inspiration associated with both the man and the label.
