COLIN REID-Fashion industry-Calvin Klein, Pringle,Nortika, Donna Karen
Colin Reid has been part of the fashion industry for many years making collections for pringle, working for Calvin Klein, Donna Karen, Nortika and has currently returned to the Uk from 18yrs in New York to create his own business in leather goods. He is all about his roots coming from scotland and has a passion for heritage being lucky to work with Pringle. He worked for Calvin Klein for 12 years before becoming a designer at Nortika. In New York he created his own cashmere line which was sold at Bergdorf Goodmans but was unfortunate for Bergdorfs to copy his designs. In his opinion 2011 will be the year when the focus comes back to the Uk following the film, the kings speech, the royal wedding and the 2012 olympics. What i found interesting was his advice to young designers being that you need a clear vision in any idea that you have and your presentation is very important through your work and personally. He always believe you should always know the market and understand everything the fashion industry has to bring. You should also stand behind your work and have the confidence to presentate it well. He is all about the authenticity of your work and the craftmanship of your designs. I found Colin Reid to be inspiring and refreshing to get the inside opinion of someone form the fashion industry who has had as much experience as Colin.
